In Depth Review of the Sony NW-S706

The Sony family has recently launched a new MP3 player, which is beautifully designed and comes with a real smart look. The Sony NW-S706 has a VPT studio, along with its dynamic formalizer. It also has a long lasting battery and an in-built FM radio, in addition to an album cover search feature. Finally, the player comes embedded with two useful operational modes.

The new upcoming product has come up with a whole new concept, relegating all iPod Nano clones to the sidelines. The NW-S706 is designed in the form of a disposable lighter. So it might be handy to keep it in the Sony CKL-NWS700 keychain case so you don’t accidentally mistake it for a real lighter and lend it to someone. Not only it is available with a fade-to–black screen, but it also comes with sleek silver/chrome lining. The audio quality is magnificent. Sony offers ear bud phones, which automatically eliminate ambient noise and include a noise filter function.

It also includes an additional swivel wheel feature, which is mounted at the end of the device. The swivel wheel is basically a focus point, having two operational modes, ‘normal’ and ‘folder’, on the player. The normal one is a simple track search/skip control, while the folder mode is made to instantly switch between songs keeping account of a sorting category, which can be easily set up from the main menu. You also use the album cover search feature to either upload cover art, or to browse album by cover design. Another useful feature is the player’s ability to automatically create a playlist based on your favourite tracks. The integrated VPT studio makes the sound more vibrant, while the dynamic normalizer controls the volume level. The Sony NW-S706 has an inbuilt FM radio and offers a whopping 50 hours of battery time. Moreover, this product is available at an attractive price. The sizable amount of features, along with the Sony audio quality, definitely helps to set this player apart from the competition.
