Multi-zone power Amplifiers: ARCAM MZ8 and MZ12

Arcam has launched two multi zone amplifiers, namely the MZ12 and MZ 8. Its earlier FMJ range that helps separate hi-fi and Solo lifestyle products was a great success among ardent music lovers. Multi-room audio in homes and background music in shops and bars is what Arcam is currently concentrating on and plans to make it big with its latest multi zone amplifiers.

This latest range of multi-zone amplifiers that has been introduced comes with similar features and design, the only notable difference between the two being the various channels they support. While the Arcam MZ12 supports 12×65 watts per channel, the Arcam MZ8 supports 8 channels. The power output however remains the same.

Arcam is a leading manufacturer of Hi-fi equipment. Both the new models of amplifiers can use stereo inputs as they come with configurable inputs and are designed for use with home cinema units like the Sony RHT-G900. The two Arcam units can also share a primary input. They also feature a full duplex RS232 interface and 12v trigger making it is easy to control the amplifier through a remote. These can be integrated with ease and custom installed. When in a stand-by mode, these devices have a creditable eco-friendly one- watt power output.

Users will find that both the MZ12 and Arcam MZ8 feature phono input sockets that are gold plated phono. They also feature large binding posts for loudspeaker. The rack mountable 3U chassis weighs around 23 kg and comes with amplifier feet and detachable rack ears. With both models on sale now, these amplifiers can be custom installed and come at a starting price of around £1600.
