Tannoy Mercury F1: Customised Speakers

With the trend for appreciating quality music fast catching up and high-definition televisions becoming an integral part of our home cinema, the need for having some good quality speakers, which also fit our budget is growing simultaneously. To meet this requirement Tannoy has come up with some high quality speakers at an affordable price. These entry-level bookshelf size speakers are the perfect solution for those who want to go for budget shopping yet do not want to compromise on sound quality.

They are a set of two stereo speakers with a total output of 50 watts power and with a 300 mm length, 170 mm width and 220 mm height, they give a effect of a very compact design and with a weight of about 4 kg they can easily fit themselves anywhere whether it is a small enclosed space of a shelf. As a result the Tannoy Mercury F1 custom speakers are an ideal choice where space is a major constraint factor. The looks are fairly aesthetic and they have stuck to the basic as far as the design is concerned. They have a wood grain finish and the grills of the speaker are black in colour.

The sound quality is quite superior and though there are no additional surround units or the subwoofers which normally compliment the speakers, but it appeared that they did not need their support to produce a surround effect which was impressive. The bass did not have great power, but it was just right in respect of the detailing as was felt in the jazz and rock music to give a natural musical effect. The mid-range had a very detailed effect adding to the natural effect of the music to give a perfect and accurate reproduction of the various musical notes. You can also feel the richness across a wide range with great clarity of different musical beats.

They being single driver units the connectivity is simple however you would require a receiver and speaker wire to connect them, but as with most speakers you require external power which is not required in this case.
