B & W Unveils the New Panorama Sound Bar at the CES 2009

Bowers & Wilkins (B & W), a world leading maker of extremely sophisticated acoustic products has recently unveiled its new powerful device called Panorama at Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2009 in Las Vegas last month. With this newbie the company has entered into the sound bar vertical field. The Panorama is a one box marvellously designed solution to boost the acoustic capability of high definition televisions. As it’s created by B & W there is no doubt with regards to its sound quality, performance and reliability.

The Panorama sound bar is the result of the intensive research by B&W’s engineering team in UK. Staying true to the company’s penchant for designing very unique speakers, like the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin speaker, the Panorma Sound Bar has a truly innovative shape and style.The best feature of this sound bar is it does not require any dedicated or external sub-woofer to produce impressively low frequencies. The Panorama ahs got a plethora of drive units and uses DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology to offer real time surround sound and bass.

The centre channel section has got five drive units and an aluminium dome tweeter. The company has used its famous Nautilus Tube technology and has also imparted a pair of both midrange drivers and woofers. To bolster the device’s power six Class D amps are used to deliver a total output of 175 watts. According to the company this type of design is the key behind the quality bass. For seamless connectivity the Panorama is blessed with a pair of optical and one coaxial digital audio input plus two stereo analogue inputs. It works best with the LCDs and Plasmas displays of at least 37 inches or more.

DHT FS5 X-Space: The Latest Soundbar from Denon

The DHT FS5 is for those people who want to save on space and also get aesthetic looks for a system to get the pleasure of home cinema sound for their flat panel Television. The biggest advantage of the Sound Bar is that it combines all the essential components like the speaker drivers, amplifiers and audio decoders to form one single soundbar unit. It also compliments the T.V. set, especially when it is wall mounting, alternatively it can be placed below the T.V on the TV Stand. The DHT FS5 model will perfectly suit your Television sets\ with a screen size in the range of 37 inches to 24 inches.

The DHT FS5 Sound Bar looks quite sturdy but Compact and with a 118 mm height and 750 mm width. The front panel is simple but elegantly covered with a superior black fabric in respect of the black colour model extending to the top and sides of the Sound Bar. In the front panel the two digit LED display is for mode indication. At the bottom there is the power light and another panel for Audio codec. Then on the back side of the Denon HiFi unit there is a section for sockets consisting of digital and analogue stereo input, the three digital input are further bifurcated into one coaxial audio input followed by two optical inputs, one for the DVD player and the other for your television set and facility of optional ASD 3W wireless control dock for internet radio, MP3 player playback or Wi-Fi streaming.

The unit has three bass reflex tubes integrated with the virtual subwoofer; however there is also a provision of pre out for the sub-woofer which can be used for further expansion just in case the need arises. The Sound quality is extremely good and powerful with an outstanding soundstage. The bass is full of warmth and also not compromising on attention to detail. It is really surprising to get such an impressive sound effect when compared to the compact design and size. Further with the special feature of X-Space which spreads the sound and filling the entire space, the Sound quality almost gives competition to the 5.1 Channel sound systems. Further the sound spread does not depend on the reflection of sound from the walls as a result you have greater flexibility of choosing the placement of the system in your room. It also has Dolby Pro Logic II, the DTS decoders and the Dolby digital in- built into the system.

The set up is simple and the system is easy to use with the remote control making the system a pleasure for navigating the system.
